RN - MS/Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work on a mixed med/surg and stepdown acute care surgical floor specializing in post-surgical transplant patients
• Care for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients being evaluated during inpatient stays
• Monitor patients closely for infection, rejection, and timely medication delivery
• Work as either a med/surg or stepdown nurse dependent on availability of nursing staff
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients
• Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary
• Administer medications as prescribed and initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
• Interact with patients and families to share care plans during hospital stays and at time of discharge
• Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
• Delegate tasks to support staff as needed
• Stepdown/PCU experience required
• Acute care surgical floor experience required
• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
• Preceptor and charge experience preferred
• Level 1 certification required
