Physical Therapist Acute Care Job in Rockville, MD

Join AHC Shady Grove Medical Center as a Physical Therapist in our acute care setting. This is a part-time position working evenings, 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, for a 91-day travel assignment beginning December 7, 2026.

Position Overview

You will provide acute care physical therapy services to adult and geriatric patient populations across the hospital. Your responsibilities include patient evaluation, assessment, and plan of care development. You will perform gait training, extremity mobilization, and functional mobility assessments using assistive devices such as rolling walkers, crutches, sliding boards, and sit-to-stand lifts.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Treat patients with orthopedic conditions, neurological conditions, post-surgical recovery, stroke rehabilitation, and cardiopulmonary conditions
• Conduct pain assessments, strength testing, and vital sign monitoring
• Provide patient and family education and discharge planning
• Float within the hospital and within your scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience
• Current Maryland or Compact license (must be active at submission)
• BLS certification required
• Two supervisor references required
• Nicotine-free
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred

Compensation and Schedule

You will receive weekly pay of $2,160 for this part-time evening position. The assignment runs for 91 days with flexible travel staffing arrangements.
