The city's hospital infrastructure is large, the cost of living is rising but still manageable compared to coastal metros, and Tennessee's tax structure puts more of your stipend in your pocket. Three systems dominate Nashville's acute care landscape, and each has a different feel for travelers.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is the academic flagship.
