Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Day shift position with 36 or 48 hours per week available
• 13-week contract
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Maximum of 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract
• Work on a 22-bed acute care unit primarily serving general surgery and trauma patients
• Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the patient population with 10% medical diagnoses
• Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, occasionally 1:5, with a free-float charge RN
• All rooms are equipped with cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry
• 8 beds designated for telemetry or end-tidal CO2 monitoring covered by central monitor techs
• Patient diagnoses include trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery
• May float to other acute care units per float policy
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
• Required skills include central line care/management, chest tube management, epidural analgesia, HFNC, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, PICC line management, telemetry remote monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and more
• Epic charting system experience required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred but not required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Virginia nursing license required; pending licenses accepted
• BSN preferred
