Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Night shift position available
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• 13-week contract
• Every other weekend required; must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Maximum 40 hours of time off per 13-week contract; no time off approved around Christmas
• Work on a 27-bed General Medicine Unit caring for patients with Respiratory, Endocrine, Cardiac, Immune/Infectious Disease, and Renal conditions
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis
• Patient ratios: 4 patients on days, 5 patients on nights and weekends
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Required skills include: chest tubes, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, PCA, renal failure management, telemetry, tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac
• Special procedures include nurse-driven heparin infusions, insulin drips via Glucomander, telemetry, nurse-driven flu vaccination, and CAPD
• Special equipment includes lift equipment, HOVER mats, chest tubes, trachs, PCA pumps, bladder scanner, and wound vacs
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
• Epic experience required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred but not required
• 1 year of experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• BSN preferred
• Must adhere to float policy within scope of practice
• Virginia license required; pending license accepted
