Telemetry RN Job in Chesapeake, VA

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Med Surg Neuro & Stroke unit (6S). You will provide direct patient care in an acute care setting serving adults and geriatrics with neurology and stroke diagnoses.

Position Details:

• 4x12 night shifts with overtime paid after 48 hours
• 91-day contract starting September 28, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,561
• Typical patient ratio of 1:7
• Unit census of 28 with 30 rooms and 30 beds

Responsibilities:

You will monitor telemetry, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, perform central line blood draws, manage PICC lines, administer blood products, provide tracheostomy care, manage wounds and wound vacs, deliver pre- and post-neurosurgery care, care for traumatic brain injury patients, manage heparin and insulin, operate high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP equipment, manage chest tubes, administer PCA, perform phlebotomy, and maintain isolation precautions. You will also float between units and cover every other weekend and holidays as required. Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays.

Required Qualifications:

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license (required in hand, no exceptions)
• 2+ years of RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience
• Previous experience caring for neurology and stroke patients
• Epic proficiency (required, no exceptions)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification
• EKG testing required—must score 80% or higher on first attempt; no remediation available
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Support and Resources:

Interdisciplinary support is available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. You will complete 3 hours of pre-start modules before beginning.
