ICU Registered Nurse Job in Phoenix, AZ

St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 32-bed Neuro ICU. You'll work 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 14, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,226.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in a Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
• May float to Med-Surg/Telemetry floors at a 1:4 ratio as needed
• Manage critical care patients with neuro diagnoses, including post-craniotomy, brain tumor removals, ablations, brain biopsies, spine surgeries, and scoliosis repair
• Monitor ICP, manage external ventricular drains (EVD), and perform strong neuro assessments
• Operate Phillips telemetry monitors and document in Cerner
• Ventilator management and support from 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy teams

Required Qualifications:

• Current RN license
• ACLS and BLS (AHA) certification
• 2 years of ICU experience in a large facility (450+ beds), OR 18 months of Neuro ICU experience
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• EVD and ventilator experience required
• Valid personal vehicle

Pre-Employment and Orientation:

• Pass DYS exam prior to hire (2 attempts allowed)
• Pass/fail exam on Day 1 of orientation with provided study guide
• Complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Additional education on lifts, restraints, and wound care
• 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation

Facility Requirements:

• Natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit test
• Scrub color: Steel grey for Neuro floors

BSN not required. First-time travelers welcome. Holidays based on unit coverage and work into core staff rotation.
