Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Neuro

Job Details:

• Weekend night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
• Holiday rotation required as needed
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Acute care setting on a 20-bed Neuro unit (14 floor beds)
• Patient ratios: 1:5-6 for floor patients; nurse aide ratios of 1:7-10 with 3 aides per shift
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Common diagnoses include neurosciences, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders
• Strong overall neuro experience required with proficiency in G-tube management
• Recent EPIC experience required; EPIC used for all charting
• Telemetry available on unit; RNs document verification of monitor tech strip readings in EPIC
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RNs not required to have vent experience
• Titration performed by physician orders; protocols provided for applicable drips
• Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as first priority, then to other hospital units as needed
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of white and royal blue
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
• Any background hits must be disclosed at time of submission
