Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work three 12-hour shifts per week with on-call required once every 6 weeks
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
• Self-scheduling available
• Patient ratios of 3:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Unit has 25 beds with a daily census of 20 patients
• May have low acuity ICU patients or high acuity telemetry patients on unit
• Provide in-room continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring for low acuity ICU level and high acuity telemetry patients
• Manage cardiac IV infusions including ICU level infusions such as Levophed, Cardene, Neosynephrine, and Insulin drips requiring frequent titrations and continuous monitoring
• Care for patients post-TNK administration with frequent neurological assessments, high O2 requirements, pericardial drains, temporary pacemakers, EKOS treatment for DVT, STEMI post cath, Femstop management, and snakebite post-antivenom administration
• RN-driven patient care with supporting role from PCTs; independently consult with medical management team regarding changes in patient condition
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; 2 years of experience in service line required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred
• Altera charting experience preferred, not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Texas nursing license required and must be in hand at time of submittal
• Skills required include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, telemetry monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, tracheostomy care, wound care, and additional advanced clinical skills
