Emergency Department RN Job in Carlsbad, NM

Carlsbad Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Emergency Department. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM in a Level 3 Trauma facility, providing direct patient care and clinical support to a diverse emergency population.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care using the Nursing Process in accordance with New Mexico state regulations and hospital policy
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings to the care team
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects
• Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail in patient documentation
• Apply critical thinking and scientific judgment in planning safe patient care delivery
• Delegate care priorities based on staff education and experience
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education
• Apply knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
• Float within your scope and experience as needed, typically to ICU

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in New Mexico
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC
• NRP preferred

Assignment Details

• Duration: 91 days
• Schedule: 3x12 night shifts per week
• Patient ratio: 4:1
• EMR: MedHost (EDIS)
• Full uniform required; no specific scrub color restriction
• Maximum 1 RTO per 6-week scheduling period; blackout dates apply for summer and winter holidays per department needs
• Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are not approved

Start date: October 5, 2026. Weekly pay: $2,364.
