About this role

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rapid Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Cardiac Telemetry unit in Wilmington, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment running nights on a 3x12 schedule, paying $2,043.79 weekly.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift, 36 hours per week
  • 3x12 hour shifts
  • Four weekend shifts per four-week cycle (flexible scheduling)
  • Float requirement follows unit rotation; you are not first to float

Role Responsibilities

You will care for post-cardiac surgery and cardiac patients with conditions including atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and peripheral vascular disease. Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down and 1:5–6 for lower-acuity patients. You will manage cardiac drips, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, perform sheath removal, care for chest tubes, and provide non-invasive airway support.

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Minimum two years of cardiac floor experience
  • Travel experience required, unless you have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
  • Cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization management
  • Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), external CPAP/BiPAP, non-invasive airway management
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Qualifications

  • Arterial line management
  • Wound care and wound vac experience
  • Charge nurse experience
  • EPIC charting system experience

Unit Details

You will work with Pyxis medication dispensing, SBAR communication, and specialty equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires. Patients receive care related to CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, mitral clip procedures, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and various vascular and thoracic surgeries.

You will receive 24 hours of unit orientation. Scrub color is navy. As contract staff, you may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disaster response.
