Telemetry RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Cardiac Telemetry unit in Wilmington, NC. This is a night shift position working 3x12 hours (36 hours per week) on a 182-day contract.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care on a cardiac telemetry floor, monitoring adults and geriatrics with conditions including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, and peripheral vascular disease. Patient ratios range from 1:4 for surgical step-down to 1:5–6 for lower acuity patients. You will manage cardiac drips (titration and non-titration), interpret and manage dysrhythmias, remove sheaths, care for chest tubes, and support post-cardiac catheterization and post-surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to rhythm changes
• Manage post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Operate external CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Maintain arterial lines and assist with femoral sheath management and removal
• Care for chest tubes and epicardial pacing wires
• Float to unit rotations as needed; not first-call float
• Work four shifts per four weeks on weekends (flexible scheduling)
• Document using Epic and SBAR methodology

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• Minimum 2 years cardiac floor experience
• Travel nursing experience or 24+ months of cardiac experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated proficiency with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, sheath removal, and cardiac drip management
• Pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Skills

Arterial line management, wound care and wound vac experience, and charge nurse background.

Compensation & Contract Details

Weekly pay is $2,065. Orientation is 24 hours. Contract staff may be assigned to Storm and Hurricane Teams and required to report during catastrophic events and mass casualty incidents. Patient care support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
