CVICU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as a registered nurse in the Cardiac Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) float pool at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning March 30, 2026.

Schedule and Compensation

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
• 36 hours per week requirement
• Alternating weekends required
• Weekly pay: $2,233.80

Role Responsibilities

You'll float to all CVICU areas as needed, including cardiac step-down (E4) and cath lab recovery. Patient ratios typically range from 2:1 or 1:1, with occasional 3:1 assignments depending on acuity. You'll manage complex patients requiring advanced cardiac support and monitoring.

Required Skills and Experience

• ICU experience with CVICU, cardiac step-down, and cath lab recovery focus
• Proficiency with ECMO and LVAD management
• Titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Ventilator management and tracheostomy care
• Telemetry interpretation and hemodynamics understanding
• PA catheter setup and interpretation
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation system

Advanced Skills (Preferred)

• IABP and Impella experience
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) experience
• CCRN certification recommended but not required

Equipment and Procedures

You'll work with specialized equipment including ventilators, telemetry systems, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, Impella, and hypothermia devices. You'll participate in procedures such as cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, and chest tube insertions.

Onboarding

Plan for a 4-hour hospital orientation followed by an 8-hour floor shift to ensure you're comfortable with facility protocols and systems.
