PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Join Hilo Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. You will deliver direct patient care on day shifts, working three 12-hour shifts per week from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, scheduled for 36 hours weekly after your initial orientation week.

Unit Overview

The 15-bed Progressive Care Unit includes 3 Step Down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds. You will manage patient ratios of 1:4 for progressive care patients and 1:3 for step-down ICU patients, providing comprehensive nursing care across this mixed acuity setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care and telemetry monitoring, including telemetry strip reading
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar monitoring
• Operate BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment
• Utilize Meditech charting system and Pyxis for medication administration
• Float to acute units in-house, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER as needed

Requirements

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license required by start of assignment
• Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certification preferred
• Progressive care and telemetry experience preferred

Assignment Details

This is a 91-day travel position beginning December 14, 2026. The unit operates 24 hours Monday through Friday. There are no guaranteed hours and no on-call responsibilities. Dress code is scrubs.

Weekly pay is $2,295.
