PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Hilo Medical Center is seeking an RN for a progressive care unit flex pool position working 12-hour night shifts. You will work from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, scheduled for 36 hours per week following your first week of orientation.

As a float RN, you will rotate among medical and surgical units including the Medical Unit (77 beds), Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds), and Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds). Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by assignment: Medical Unit operates at 1:6 during days and evenings and 1:8 at night, Laulima Unit at 1:6, and Cardiovascular Unit at 1:4.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering direct patient care across rotating medical and surgical units
• Managing equipment including wound vacs and chest tubes
• Documenting patient care in the Meditech EMR system
• Utilizing Pyxis for medication management

Requirements:

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license by assignment start date
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; up to 10 years preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Professional nursing attire and clean scrubs

Preferred qualifications:

• PALS certification
• Procedural Sedation certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Hilo Medical Center will provide orientation for each unit to ensure you are prepared for your assignments. Please note this is a flex pool position with no guaranteed hours.
