PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Hilo Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit. You will provide direct patient care in a 15-bed unit that combines 3 Step Down ICU beds with 12 telemetry beds, working 36 hours per week after your first week of orientation.

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver primary nursing care including telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip reading, and fingerstick blood sugar checks
• Monitor patients using continuous cardiac monitoring equipment and BIPAP as needed
• Document care using the Meditech charting system and manage medications through the Pyxis system
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for Progressive Care patients and 1:3 for Step Down ICU patients
• Float to acute care units across the facility including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and Emergency Room as needed

Requirements

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license required by your start date
• Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certification preferred

What to Expect

This is a 91-day assignment beginning October 26, 2026. You will work varied shifts with no guaranteed hours and no on-call responsibilities. Weekly pay is $2,233.80. Standard dress code is scrubs.
