Operating Room RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday block schedule; call and late days required as needed.

Assignment Details

• Shift: 3x12 days
• Weekly pay: $2,415
• Start date: November 16, 2026
• Location: Abilene, TX
• Orientation: 40 hours required
• One pre-approved time off allowed per contract

Clinical Focus

You will work in a specialty OR environment with case types including Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, and General/Robotics/Trauma. Craniotomy and burr hole experience is required. You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in your service line. Patient ratio is 1:1 across days, nights, and weekends.

Required Experience & Skills

• Craniotomy and burr hole procedures (hard stop requirement)
• Spinal procedures including laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, anterior cervical fusion, and lumbar fusion
• Orthopedic cases including total joint replacement, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, and ACL reconstruction
• Trauma surgery including open and closed reduction of fractures, amputations, burns, gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA injuries
• General surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, and carpal tunnel release
• Minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic-assisted procedures and Da Vinci Xi robotic system

Certifications & Preferences

• Required: BLS
• Preferred: ACLS, CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred: Travel experience, previous charge experience, Trauma Level I and II experience
• Preferred: Allscripts/Altera charting system experience (not required)

Patient Population & Support

You will treat patients across all age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support is available through IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams.
