Emergency Department RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Registered Nurse in our 8-bed freestanding Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026, offering you the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, direct-care environment with a manageable patient ratio and clear staffing structure.

Role Overview

You will provide nursing care for both high and low acuity emergency patients, managing critical cases as a core responsibility. Your daily responsibilities include medication administration, emergency patient assessment, lab work, and coordinated care delivery using GE equipment and Meditech EMR systems.

Schedule & Staffing

• 3x12 day shifts per week (11:00 AM–11:00 PM)
• Day shift team: 2 RNs, 1 EMT, and 2 mid-level RNs
• Night shift team: 2 RNs
• Patient ratio: 4:1
• Four weekend shifts required per schedule
• No on-call or floating requirements

Compensation & Duration

Weekly pay: $1,971. Assignment length: 91 days.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Emergency Department nursing experience required
• Current ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC certifications
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

• ENPC certification

Work Environment

Navy blue scrubs required. This freestanding emergency department provides focused emergency care with a structured team dynamic and no floating to other units.
