PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Night shift position available
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• 13-week contract
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Maximum 40 hours of time off per 13-week contract; time off around July 4th cannot be approved
• Nurse-patient ratio of 4:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit (TIMU)
• Care for adult and geriatric patients post-operative open heart surgeries, thoracic surgeries, and revascularization therapies
• Perform and independently interpret ECGs and manage dysrhythmias
• Work with arterial lines, chest tubes, mediastinal tubes, Jackson Pratt drains, bladder scanners, ECG machines, GE portable monitors, and epidural/patient-controlled analgesia pumps
• Manage nurse-driven heparin drips, Ketamine drips, Nitro drips, and aggressive insulin management (Glucomander)
• Telemetry experience required including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted
• Must adhere to float policy within scope of practice
• Previous charge experience preferred
• BSN preferred
