PCU Nurse Job in Charlottesville, VA

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 4x12 night shifts at $2,487 per week, providing intermediate care for patients requiring critical care and neuroscience principles.

Your role includes caring for patients in a 12-bed unit with a 1:3 patient ratio. You will manage a diverse patient population including neuro trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intraventricular and intracerebral hemorrhage, ENT cancer post-resection, post-operative spine patients, and a range of neurological conditions across adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.

Clinical responsibilities:

• Arterial line management and blood product administration
• BiPAP/CPAP management and telemetry monitoring
• Craniotomy care, CVA management, and traumatic brain injury care
• Intracranial bleed management and EVD management
• Lumbar drain management and heparin protocols
• Tracheostomy care and pre/post neurosurgery care

Requirements:

• Current Virginia nursing license (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Epic experience required
• BSN preferred
• Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed

The contract runs 13 weeks with every other weekend and every other holiday required. Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off is available per contract. You must adhere to the unit's float policy and maintain the clinical skills necessary for this specialized intermediate care setting.
