ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling available
• Minimum of 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Holiday shifts required
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Work across ICU units including MICU (12 beds), CSICU (24 beds), and NTICU (24 beds)
• Care for patients with respiratory distress, DKA, renal failure, surgical post-op cases, non-STEMI, cardiac surgical cases, stroke, neuro, trauma, ortho, and medical ICU populations
• Titrate drips including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized drips
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and read own telemetry strips using Philips monitors
• Work with respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
• Support from 1 critical care tech per unit, intensivist in-house, and RT available 24/7
• May be asked to float to ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele; in extreme need may float within Zone 3
• Charting system: EPIC
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Must be within 60 miles of facility and driver's license must be submitted
• General critical care experience required; 1 year trauma/surgical and neuro critical care experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
