PCU RN Job in Chattanooga, TN

You will work as an RN on a 30-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (3West Cardiac) on the 3rd floor of Parkridge Medical Center. This is a 3x12 nights position (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with a patient ratio of 5–6:1.

Unit Environment

• Unit staffing includes a unit clerk on days, 2–3 PCTs day and night, a nursing supervisor, and hospitalists
• Scheduling requires the equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Floating policy includes general M/S, ortho, PCU, and M/S surgical with oncology as needed based on skill mix

Clinical Responsibilities

• Advanced cardiac knowledge required, including proficiency with Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
• Manage chest tube and wound vac management
• Perform and document ad lib EKGs and telemetry application each shift
• Conduct bedside rounding and hourly rounding with 5Ps checks
• Report known patient needs to PCTs at the beginning and during shifts
• Acknowledge rhythm strips and place in chart each shift
• Enforce NO PASS ZONE policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms

Required Certifications and Systems

• BLS, ACLS, and NIH stroke scale required
• Documentation via Meditech-HCA version
• Medications managed via WOW with med drawers and PyxisES dispensing system
• Equipment includes Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, Philips Telemetry and MP2s

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs required
• May wear white, blue, grey, or black t-shirt underneath with no graphics
• No artificial or gel nails or gel nail polish
