PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work on a 30-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (3West Cardiac) on the main building's 3rd floor
• Patient ratio of 5-6:1
• Unit staffing includes unit clerk on days, 2-3 PCTs day and night, nursing supervisor, and hospitalists
• Equivalent of every other weekend required (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Float to other med/surge areas including general MS, ortho, PCU, and med/surge surgical with oncology as needed based on skill mix
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
• Cardiac knowledge preferred
• Advanced knowledge required for Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
• Procedures performed on unit include chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs
• Equipment used includes Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, Philips Telemetry, and MP2s
• Documentation system: Meditech-HCA version
• Medications managed via WOW with med drawers and PyxisES dispensing system
• Patient experience requirements include bedside rounding, hourly rounding with 5P's checked, and reporting to PCTs of known needs at beginning and during shifts
• Documentation of telemetry application, acknowledging rhythm strips, and placing in chart each shift required
• NO PASS ZONE policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms
• Dress code: RN - navy scrubs; may wear white, blue, grey, or black t-shirt underneath with no graphics; no artificial or gel nails or gel nail polish
