PCU Registered Nurse Job in Charlotte, NC

Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a travel position lasting 140 days, starting September 28, 2026.

Position Details

• Specialty: PCU — Progressive Care Unit
• Shift: 3x12 nights (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
• Weekly pay: $1,884
• 36 or 48 hours per week with self-scheduling based on unit needs
• Every other weekend requirement
• 36 hours of unit orientation required

About the Role

You will care for adult and geriatric patients (16 years and older) with medical/surgical, cardiac, renal, bariatric surgery, pulmonary, and trauma-related conditions. The unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24. Your primary focus will be on heart failure and post-procedural patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1 in the PCU; you may float to Med Surg with ratios up to 1:6.

Responsibilities include continuous EKG monitoring, non-invasive pressure monitoring, EEG monitoring, continuous pulse oximetry, cardioversion, vasoactive IV medication management, oxygen therapy, wound care, and safety management. Some floating to the Cardiac Telemetry unit is required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EKG testing certification prior to start
• Epic charting system experience
• Proficiency with telemetry, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-cardiac/vascular surgical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Charge Nurse experience
• Wound care and wound vac experience

Unit systems include PYXIS, Epic, Product Dimensions, and SBAR documentation. Dress code: any combination of navy and white scrubs.
