Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Oncology

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays with staff
• 29-bed oncology unit on the 7th floor - travelers will only work on the floor
• Patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
• Charge nurse provided out of staffing grid except in unusual circumstances
• Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor - not required to read strips
• Floating rarely required, only to medical acute unit
• 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Charting via Meditech EMR
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
• Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
• Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes
• Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
• 1 year of experience required with 1 prior travel assignment
• No first-time travelers accepted
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred
• ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy with a minimum of 2 years specialty experience
