Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Oncology

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays with staff
• 29-bed oncology unit on the 7th floor with outpatient overflow; travelers will only work on the floor
• Patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
• Charge nurse provided out of staffing grid except in unusual circumstances
• Telemetry available with central monitoring; reading strips not required
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• Floor-specific orientation: 3 days
• Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
• Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes
• Floating rarely required, only to medical acute unit
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
• Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
• Minimum 1 year of experience required with at least 1 prior travel assignment; no first-time travelers
• 2 years of experience required in specialty if administering chemotherapy
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred; ONS required if administering chemotherapy
