PCU RN Job in Council Bluffs, IA

CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking an RN (Registered Nurse) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 3x12-hour night shifts at an average of $2,370 per week for a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Cyclic scheduling with every other weekend requirement
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday requirement
• 1 orientation shift (12 hours) in the department

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage patients with common diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Operate CPAP equipment and troubleshoot as needed
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• May float to ICU if appropriate experience is present

Unit Environment

• Fast-paced unit with high volume of admits and discharges
• Charge nurse present on each shift; takes full patient assignment
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available at 1:10 ratio
• EPIC charting system

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Valid driver's license at time of submittal
• Must pass an open-book skills exam with minimum score of 90% during orientation
