Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on the Medical Surgical unit at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rapid Response in Wilmington, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting October 26, 2026, with a weekly pay of $1,876.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12-hour night shifts (36 or 48 hours per week accepted)
• Every other weekend assignment
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6

Role Responsibilities

You'll manage patients with severe orthopedic trauma, neurological injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and subdural hematomas. You'll handle heparin drips, PCA, colostomy care, feeding tubes, blood product administration, central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, phlebotomy, and IV starts. You'll also manage dysrhythmias, oxygen protocols, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), tracheostomy management, and wound care.

Float assignments to similar units and alternate care locations are required. As contract staff, you may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team duties and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the last 5 years
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• EKG testing required prior to start
• Epic documentation experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

Unit Details

Unit orientation is 28 hours total (12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education). Unit systems include Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR. Navy scrubs required.
