PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Patient ratio is 1:5, with rare occasions where ratio may flex to 1:6
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not available
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required
• Home address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• No guaranteed hours
• Scrub color: Navy
• Charting system: Epic
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include: MS/Tele, Telemetry, interpretation of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, PCA, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include: Cardiac telemetry, ER holding, management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care and management, renal failure, CVA, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, and tracheostomy management
• Patient diagnoses include: Medical conditions related to pulmonary, wounds, urology, general cardiac, general neuro, and general renal
• Patient age groups: Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience required
