PICU RN Job in Charlottesville, VA

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 52-week contract with 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Rotating shift schedule
• Must work every other holiday, including 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• 3 weekends required per six-week schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:2, with possible 2:1 ratio if acuity is high
• May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
• Care for combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patients including diagnoses such as DORV, TOF, HLHS, TGA, heart transplant, TBI, RSV, DKA, trauma, seizures, and post-operative cases including ortho, neuro, liver and kidney transplant, and hematology/oncology
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Pediatric cardiac experience a plus
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Virginia nursing license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Nursys verification required with submission
• References required
• Key skills include: arterial line management, ventilator management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, CRRT, ECMO, VADs, continuous sedation, pediatric dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and wound assessment/care among others
• Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off per contract; no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• Time off not approved during first 2 weeks of contract
