PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 13-week contract with rotating shifts, working 36 or 48 hours per week
• Shift schedule is rotating with night shift options available
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Must work 3 weekends per six-week schedule
• May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
• Patient ratios are 1:2, with possible 1:1 for high acuity patients or 2:1 as needed
• Unit maintains a high census and high acuity with 25 beds and a daily census of 23
• Cares for combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patients including cardiac diagnoses such as DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood Sano/BT Shunt, TGA, and Heart Transplant
• Medical cases include TBI, RSV, DKA, Trauma, Seizures, and post-op cases including ortho, neuro, Liver and Kidney Transplant, and hematology/oncology (no chemo)
• Pediatric cardiac experience is a plus
• 2 years of experience required
• Patient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Charting system experience required - Epic
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Required skills include arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, CRRT, ECMO, VADs, hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations among others
• Virginia nursing license required (pending license accepted)
• Nursys verification required with submission
• References required
• Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract; no time off approved in first 2 weeks of contract
