PACU Registered Nurse Job in Midland, TX

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, TX. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a Monday through Friday, 5×8 day shift schedule at $2,457 per week.

Unit Overview

The 21-bed PACU manages a daily census of 30 patients with a 2:1 patient ratio. You will care for patients ranging from 8 months to 100+ years old, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The unit sees a heavy volume of orthopedic, general, gynecology, neurology, and urology cases. You may assist with Pre-Op Holding coverage as needed; both areas are connected, and there is no floating to other departments.

Experience Requirements

You must have travel healthcare experience and current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIH certifications. You need 2 years of PACU experience preferred in all surgeries except cardiac. Pediatric patient experience is required, including ENT, dental, and orthopedic cases. Critical care and Level II trauma experience are strongly preferred. Experience recovering patients in orthopedic, neurological, general, urological, gynecological, dental (adult and pediatric), and pediatric ENT cases is required.

Clinical Skills

You will monitor patients with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and arterial lines. Essential skills include arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition and management, IV vasopressor administration, conscious sedation monitoring, post-epidural management, malignant hyperthermia protocol familiarity, PCA pump management, and pain assessment and management. Cerner charting system experience is preferred.

Schedule and Call

You will work Monday through Friday with call required 6–8 days per month on a self-scheduled basis. A minimum of 1 weekend shift per contract is required.

Qualifications
