ED Registered Nurse Job in Charlottesville, VA

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in the Emergency Department. You will work 3x12 night shifts, earning $2,099 weekly. Available start dates are 10/12, 10/26, or 11/09/2026.

Role Overview:

• Work in a 71-bed emergency department with approximately 165 patient visits daily
• Manage a patient ratio of 4–5 patients per shift
• Care for all age groups: adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Treat patients with Level I Trauma, Comprehensive Stroke, and Chest Pain (STEMI) diagnoses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy
• Float within your scope of practice as staffing needs require

Requirements:

• Current Virginia nursing license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by Wednesday before start)
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience
• At least 1 year of Level 1 trauma facility experience OR 2 years of Level 2 trauma facility experience
• Experience with pediatric patients required (does not need to be in a dedicated pediatric ER)
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required (TNCC pending acceptable but must be completed before start)
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred

Schedule Details:

• Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Weekends required; scheduled days vary based on staffing needs
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Maximum 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract
