PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement based on unit needs and demands
• Holiday flexibility required based on unit needs and demands
• No block scheduling requests accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with CNA support at 1:8-12 ratio
• Free charge nurse available on unit
• 32-bed PCU Nursing Float unit
• Float to 4th, 5th, or 6th floor for PCU patients as needed; willing to float to MS/Tele and PCU floors
• Floor-specific orientation includes 12 hours of policy/procedure training, 12 hours on unit with preceptor, and EPIC training as needed
• Charting system: EPIC
• Read telemetry strips with support from remote tele monitor technicians
• Administer drips including nitroglycerin, heparin, cardizem, nicardipine, amiodarone, insulin, dopamine, esmolol, labetalol, milrinone, argatroban, and aggrastat
• No ventilator management required
• Common diagnoses include CVA/TIA, STEMI/NSTEMI, chest pain/rule out MI, ACS, CHF, renal failure (acute and chronic), respiratory failure/distress, DKA/HHNK, PE/DVT, afib, pre/post cardiac angiogram, stents, pre/post pacemaker, pre/post cardiac ablation, pre-CABG, and CIWA
• Experience with CAPD (Peritoneal Dialysis) is a plus but not required
• High patient turnover unit with a cohesive team environment
• Duo pairs considered as long as same schedules are not required
• No specific scrub color required
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Washington state or compact nursing license required
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or up to 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
