ED - Emergency Room

RN - ED

Job Details:

• Day shift position working 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with weekends required
• 13-week travel contract starting as soon as possible
• No 48-hour weekly guarantees
• Blocked scheduling may be requested
• At least 2 years of ED RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of travel experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Must be able to handle all patients ESI levels 1-5
• Must be able to manage 4-5:1 patient ratio assuming ESI level 3 average patient
• Must be able to care for stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients
• Must be able to triage and assess patients quickly
• Must be proficient in all clinical skills including PIV, NG/OG tubes, foleys, splinting, and wound care
• Must know how to assist with arterial line, central line, and chest tube placement
• Must be willing to answer call lights and transport patients
• Required to board psych patients in the ER until placement is found
• On nights and weekends, required to make calls for psych patient placement
• All RNs required to float to other departments if not needed in the ED; average float is 1 shift per 13-week period
• Responsible for ensuring appropriate EMTALA paperwork is completed per regulatory guidelines
• Required skills: triage, PIV, port access/deaccess, foley placement, NG/OG placement, wound care, and splint/OCL application
• Preferred skills: ultrasound-guided IV placement
• EMR system: MEDHOST EDIS
• Medication dispensing system: Omnicell; no Bar Code Medication Administration (scanning) currently in use
• On night shift, required to mix some medication drips with vial to bag adapter
• Experience as a preceptor and/or charge nurse preferred but not required; willingness to help precept eventually is required but not immediately
• Scrubs: any solid color
• Serve patients of all ages from neonates to elderly
