ED Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, KS

BJC West - Saint Lukes Community Hospital - Legends is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment working 3x12 night shifts at $1,988 weekly.

Role Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required
• Travel healthcare experience required
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Current Kansas and Missouri licenses, or compact license, required at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC

Clinical Responsibilities:

You will care for 8 patients per shift in a single-floor community hospital where half the facility is dedicated ED and half is med-surg/intermediate care. You will manage patients across all age groups—from infants through geriatrics—presenting with acute coronary syndrome, CVA/TIA, respiratory conditions, sepsis, trauma, abdominal pain, behavioral health emergencies, and common acute illnesses. You will obtain 12-lead EKGs, start and maintain IVs, and administer emergency medications. The ED averages 60 patients daily across 8 beds and may require you to float to other community hospital ER units and departments as needed.

Facility Details:

The ED is staffed with dedicated ED RNs, 1-2 providers, 1 MSI RN, 1 charge nurse, 1-2 paramedics, 1 radiology tech, and 1-2 patient access representatives. You will have access to lift equipment, iSTAT, Zoll Monitor, Phillips EKG, and BiPAP/vent support. EPIC charting experience is preferred. Interdisciplinary support from radiology and social services is available.

Assignment Terms:

• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must match your assigned shift length
• Weekend shifts required but vary due to vacancy
• No on-call requirement
• Staff take working lunches
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract

Community hospital experience and Trauma Level I/II experience are preferred. Start date: October 5, 2026.
