ED RN Job in Garden City, KS

St. Catherine Hospital – Garden City is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a 91-day travel assignment. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week, with 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule. This position offers self-scheduling and block scheduling options.

About the Role

You will staff a 15-bed emergency department with 2 trauma bays, treating 30+ patients daily. The facility is a Level III Trauma Center, STEMI Receiving Center, and Stroke Center. Your responsibilities include triage participation, patient assessment, and nursing interventions across common diagnoses such as abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain.

You will manage drips including cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia medications. You will operate respiratory care equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen systems. Lab draws are performed or assisted in coordination with phlebotomy staff. The department maintains separate psych and seclusion rooms, and in-house security is available 24/7.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Charting is completed in EPIC. Floating within Zone 4 may be required at the nurse manager's discretion during periods of extreme need. The hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts for this assignment.
