Emergency Room RN Job in Wichita, KS

Join Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel position offering 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM at $1,940 per week.

About the Role

You will work in a 52-bed emergency department providing direct patient care across a fast-paced, diverse patient population. Your night shift team includes one charge nurse, four nurses, one tech, one unit clerk, one physician, and one midlevel provider per pod. Patient ratios average 3:1 for acute cases and 5:1 for low-acuity patients, with team nursing support for pediatric cases (ratios are estimated, not guaranteed).

Responsibilities

• Perform IV starts, medication administration, and sedation procedures
• Provide pediatric emergency care as needed
• Operate Alaris infusion equipment
• Document all care in the Meditech EMR system
• Scan patient identifiers and medications per unit protocol with every administration
• Maintain clinical standards in a high-volume emergency setting

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• NIH stroke certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel nursing experience or experience at large healthcare facilities
• Prior Meditech EMR experience
• Experience in a 52-bed or larger emergency department

You must be comfortable working independently during night shifts while maintaining attention to detail and clinical excellence in a demanding environment.
