Med Surg RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a registered nurse on the 5E Med Surg unit. This is a 91-day travel position with a start date of September 7, 2026. You will work the night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, on a 3x12 schedule at $2,070 per week.

Unit Overview

The 5E Med Surg unit is a 36-bed ward focused on post-operative patient care. You will join a night team consisting of one clinical coordinator, six RNs, and two techs. Your patient ratio will be 1:6, allowing you to deliver focused care to your assignment.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive post-operative patient care
• Perform wound care and dressing changes
• Manage drains and maintain drain systems
• Monitor patients using Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and sequential compression devices (SCDs)
• Document and communicate within the Meditech EMR system

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS certification

Preferred Experience

• Experience caring for post-operative patients
• Competency with wound care, dressing changes, and drain management
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong team collaboration and patient advocacy skills
