PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• 48-hour shift guarantees available
• Work on a neurology unit currently operating under a pilot program with a mixed patient population of step-down and acute care patients
• Typical patient assignments of up to 5 patients
• May serve in a charge nurse or preceptor role nearly every shift
• Must be comfortable caring for both acute and step-down neurological patients in a dynamic environment
• Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards utilizing the nursing process
• Coordinate and deliver patient care including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plan
• Conduct patient and family assessments including readiness to learn, developmental level, and discharge needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to evaluate and update patient care plans
• Consult with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues or high-risk discharge planning
• Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care initiatives
• Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
• Charge nurse and precepting experience required
