Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6; must be comfortable taking up to 6 patients during surge
• Every other weekend required, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period
• On-call requirement with frequency dependent on patient census
• Float requirement within or near facility
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight; no block scheduling
• 36-hour unit orientation required; must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with similar ratios and acuity
• PCU experience preferred but not required; must have cardiac telemetry experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted
• Primary cardiac and stroke unit; patients include stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, TR bands, unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA and TIA patients
• Must be able to run and titrate multiple cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Equipment used includes telemetry, pulse ox, high-flow O2, non-rebreather mask, BiPAP (chronic use only), and Blanketrol
• Unit systems include Pyxis, Dimensions (Epic), and SBAR communication
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include IV starts, telemetry, cardiac drip management and titration, pre/post procedure cardiac care, PCI, arterial line management, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, central line care, peripheral line care, pacemaker management, TR band, wound care, and non-invasive airway management
• Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs; Novant t-shirts permitted all days; jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece); no Crocs with holes
