Med Surg RN Job in Kansas City, MO

Research Medical Center MO is seeking an RN for a Med Surg position on a 23-bed Ortho/Trauma unit. This is a seasonal travel role with a start date of November 30, 2026, and a 91-day contract.

Shift and Schedule:

• Four 12-hour day shifts per week (7 AM–7 PM)
• 48 hours guaranteed per week
• Three weekend shifts required per schedule period

Role and Responsibilities:

• Care for post-operative orthopedic patients including knee, hip, and shoulder replacements
• Support trauma and neuro overflow patients
• Manage patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
• Operate specialized equipment including traction, fixators, and cooling equipment
• Perform bedside shift reports and hourly rounding per patient experience standards
• Document in Meditech system
• Collaborate with Unit Secretaries and Patient Care Technicians

Floating and Unit Coverage:

Contract labor is first to float to other Med Surg level of care units including General Med Surg, Nephrology, and Neuro/Trauma.

Requirements:

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Navy scrubs (required uniform)
• Ortho experience strongly preferred
• Telemetry and NIH stroke scale skills preferred

Compensation:

Weekly pay: $2,370
