Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 or 48 hours accepted per week
• Every other weekend requirement
• Float to like units when needed
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for surgical/medicine inpatient patients
• 13-26 week contracts accepted
• 2 days of hospital orientation plus 24 hours of floor training
• Scrubs: All navy or navy on bottom/white top
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of surgical unit experience required
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
• Required skills: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, surgical drains, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills: Titrate cardiac drips, titrate vasoactive drips, chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac
• Special equipment: Wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Penrose drains
• Unit systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
• Patient diagnoses include: Cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls, various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstruction, peripheral vascular disease, limb ischemia, hernia, and gangrene
• Special procedures include: Cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and fem pop bypass
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
