Med Surg RN Job in Kansas City, MO

Research Medical Center MO is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment on the 6 East Ortho/Trauma unit. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week (7 PM–7 AM), including three weekend shifts per schedule period.

Unit Overview

The 23-bed unit specializes in post-operative orthopedic care, including knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, along with trauma and neuro overflow patients. You will manage patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 with support from a unit secretary and patient care technician. Documentation occurs in the Meditech electronic system.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to post-operative orthopedic and trauma patients
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including traction, fixators, and cooling equipment
• Conduct bedside shift reports and hourly rounding per patient experience requirements
• Monitor patients on telemetry
• Perform NIH stroke scale assessments as needed

Staffing Flexibility

Contract labor is first to float and may be assigned to other Med Surg level-of-care units, including General Med Surg, Nephrology, and Neuro/Trauma.

Requirements

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Ortho experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• NIH stroke scale experience required
• Navy scrubs required as dress code

Compensation

Weekly pay: $1,933. Assignment begins September 14, 2026.
