Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Join Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center as a Registered Nurse on the Medical-Surgical unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment offering 3x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM) at $1,931 per week, starting November 2, 2026.

Role Overview

You will care for adult and geriatric general Med/Surg patients with a daily census of approximately 43. Your patient ratio will be 1:6 across all shifts, including nights and weekends. You will manage complex tasks including Heparin drips, Wound Vac dressing changes, high-flow oxygen, and occasional short-term BiPAP with respiratory support. This unit does not include PCU-level patients.

Scheduling & Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Call required as needed when prescheduled on a call shift
• Float required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holds
• Must be able to work holidays, including 2 of 3 major holidays
• Monthly unit team meetings on the 4th Wednesday (January–October) and 3rd Wednesday (November–December) at 5:30 PM
• Additional Friday morning meetings at 7:30 AM following Wednesday meetings for night shift staff
• Assignment to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team with potential disaster response requirements

Requirements

• NC or Compact nursing license required
• BLS certification required
• EKG testing must be passed prior to start
• 2 years of nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• CPI certification preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift travelers
• Epic charting experience preferred

Clinical Systems & Protocols

You will document using EPIC and PYXIS systems and communicate using SBAR methodology. Navy scrubs are required. You will receive 24 hours of unit orientation.
