Med Surg RN Job in Saint Louis, MO

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on our Medical Surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026.

Schedule & Pay

• 3×12 hour day shifts
• 36 or 48 hours per week (your choice)
• Every other weekend required
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
• Weekly pay: $2,082
• No on-call required

Your Role

You'll care for trauma and acute care surgery patients, including geriatric trauma (55+), abuse and violence victims, motor vehicle accidents, falls, and acute procedures such as appendectomies, gallbladder surgery, hernia repairs, and wound management. Patients arrive from the ED, OR, or ICU settings. You'll manage patient ratios of 1:4–6 and float within the service line as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Must pass Relias EKG exam (interpretation and management of dysrhythmias)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Competency with blood product administration, IV starts, phlebotomy, insulin management, PCA pumps, and peripheral line care
• Specialized skills: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, wound care and wound vacs, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
• Experience with lifts, restraints, traction, and external fixators

Work Environment

You'll work with patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics. The facility provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Wear navy blue scrubs.
