Occupational Therapist Assistant Job in Knox City, TX

AVIR Health Group is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) for a temporary assignment at Avir at Knox City, a long-term care facility. This is a day shift position offering stability, predictable hours, and no weekend or on-call requirements.

Your Role

You will execute specialized therapy plans, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities designed to improve motor skills and coordination. You'll teach patients how to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)—such as bathing, dressing, and eating—using adaptive techniques tailored to their needs. You will instruct patients and families on how to use adaptive equipment, including reachers, mobility aids, and modified kitchen utensils.

Documentation is a key part of your work. You will record detailed notes on patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns, and report your findings to the supervising OT so treatment plans can be adjusted as needed. You'll provide emotional encouragement to patients and train caregivers on home programs to support continuity of care.

You will also prepare treatment areas, clean equipment, and handle administrative duties such as scheduling and billing.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of OTA experience in a long-term care (LTC) setting
• Texas state license or compact license required
• Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) experience preferred
