ICU Registered Nurse Job in Nashville, TN

Nashville General Hospital at Meharry is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Intensive Care Unit. This is a travel position offering 3x12 night shifts with a contract duration of 98 weeks, starting October 5, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,099.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required; travel experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
• Valid Tennessee state license or compact multi-state license
• Charting system experience required
• Pre-start EKG test and sedation test required

Role Details:

You will care for adult and geriatric patients in an ICU setting that treats both intensive care and stepdown-level acuity. Patient ratios are 2:1 during the day and 3:1 for stepdown care. You will participate in rapid response and code blue teams, manage arterial lines and ventilators, provide central line care, administer blood products, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and manage BiPAP/CPAP support. Common diagnoses include sepsis, dialysis cases, complicated surgeries, post-catheterization care, DKA, respiratory failure, stroke, MI, esophageal varices, and procedures requiring conscious sedation. You must be comfortable assisting with bedside procedures and working with a prisoner population; security guards are available upon request.

Scheduling & Flexibility:

• Self-scheduling with 6 weekend shifts per contract
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Holiday rotation required—you must work 3 of 6 holidays: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day
• Floating may be required to the ER (tasks or sitter role), Med-Surg floors (no more than 4 patients), or Post Partum (lesser acuity only); float to Med-Surg with ICU acuity targets a 1:4 ratio

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous charge nurse experience
• Community hospital experience
