PCU RN Job in Council Bluffs, IA

CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 9, 2026, offering three 12-hour night shifts per week at $2,384.64 weekly.

Shift & Schedule

• Work 12-hour nights: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Cyclic scheduling with every-other-weekend requirement
• One major and one minor holiday assignment required
• One 12-hour orientation shift included

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Fast-paced unit with high volume of admits and discharges
• Charge nurse present each shift with full patient assignment
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available at 1:10 ratio
• Charting system: EPIC

Clinical Responsibilities

• Care for patients with heart failure, AFib, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Operate and troubleshoot CPAP equipment
• May float to ICU if experience is appropriate

Requirements & Certifications

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Valid driver's license at time of application
• Must pass open-book skills exam with minimum 90% score during orientation
• Artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
