Med Surg RN Job in Winston Salem, NC

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Rapid Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical Neuro unit in Winston Salem, NC. This is a 91-day travel contract with 3x12-hour night shifts at $1,883 weekly pay.

Role Details

• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:6, with 4:1 ratio in the 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
• Floating required to other Med/Surg and Telemetry areas
• 36-hour unit orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Work 36 or 48 hours per week as arranged

Patient Population

You will care for primary neuroscience patients including stroke, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, neurosurgery, and other neuro diagnoses. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience
• At least 2 successful travel contracts prior to applying (first-time travelers will not be accepted)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
• Epic charting system experience required; PYXIS and SBAR also used

Required Skills

• IV starts
• Telemetry monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Med/Surg Neuro experience

Contract Terms

• Contract length of 13–26 weeks accepted
• Start date: September 21, 2026
• If a shift is called out, it must be made up the same week or at the end of the contract
• If RTO includes weekends, time will be added to the end of the contract to compensate
