Opportunity:

RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Prior travel experience required
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on days and nights, 1:6 on weekends across a 32-bed unit
• Typically scheduled every other weekend; permanent staff are scheduled first and travelers fill in the gaps
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• Holiday expectations: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, traveler is expected to work two of them
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call is rare with a 2-hour response time; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Georgia or Compact nursing license required
• Epic charting system experience preferred; Pyxis and SBAR also utilized
• Telemetry competency exam required
• HARD STOP: Must have prior travel experience and be comfortable independently managing the following continuous IV drips:
   - Cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
   - Diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
   - Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
   - Insulin drips
• Patient diagnoses and procedures include: arrhythmia management, cardioversion, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, stable cardiac arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomies, chest tubes, biliary drains), post cardiac cath care, TR Bands, DKA, and occasional vascular, ortho, or CVA patient overflow
• Required skills include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, hemodynamic monitoring, central line care and management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, TR Band management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Special equipment includes: high flow oxygen and BiPAP managed by respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
